Frequently Asked Questions
About the Auditions
Auditions are a necessary step toward joining our growing Dance Company. It allows existing dance company members and directors to observe new dancers potential, skill set and ask them questions. No prior choreo is needed but dancers are encouraged to know shines (open footwork) and be able to lead & follow.
Auditions are closed to anyone NOT auditioning. Only Directors and current Dance Company members are allowed to attend.
Call backs will occur as soon as the Auditon is over. Dancers that did not make it in will be given a game plan on what to improve to try again and for those that make it in, you will be given more information on what to do next to join rehearsals
We are aggressively adding more dancers to our teams in 2024 as we grow back form the Pandemic, check back often for future dates.
JEANS ARE NOT ALLOWED for auditions.
Ladies:
Hair should be pulled up and in a tight bun, loose hair impairs your dancing, please come prepared with Scrunchies, Bobby Pins, Rubber bands or whatever else helps keep your hair in place. Leggings are best for auditions. This allows you fleixibility to move around and for us to observe body movement.
Dance Heels! All ladies must audition in heels since that’s what you’ll be performing in.
Men:
Any fitted T-Shirt is fine. Sweatpants or jogging pant of some sort are fine.
Jazz and/or Dance shoes should be worn for your audition. Sneakers/Street shoes should NOT be worn for your audition.
About the team
Pro Teams travel both Nationally & Internationally. Semi Pro Teams travel Nationally and are given the opportunity to travel Internationally. Student teams remain in tri state area, but are also given the opportunity to travel. All trips that require travel are added to your yearly calendar in advance.
Once you become an official dance company member we will disclose our financial obligations. We pride ourselves in transparency with our members and conscientious when it comes to dancer budgets
Most (not all) of the events we attend will require that our dancers pay a performance fee (also known as a “performance pass”). This covers a dancers spot to participate in the event as well as attend workshops. Each dance convention or Salsa Congress we attend will allow our dancers/performers the opportunity to take workshops and intensives from some of the world's top dance instructors! The information and training dancers will receive at these events is well-worth the fee you will be incurring for your performers pass.
